Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Thank you so much for all of your prayers and support. God is working! Since my last update on Oct. 18th we have seen our new Sunday morning Children’s Bible Study really take off. These photos are from this past Sunday when the lesson was on God’s calling Abraham and giving him promises. (We had transformed the bunk bed into Abraham’s tent to help set the mood.) So far there have been 21 different children who have attended, with the average being 9 kids per Sunday. One little girl’s mother said her daughter was so excited to come back she was ready to go to church already at 8 am (church starts at 10 am). Another mother, whose kids were sick last Sunday, said they were crying because they couldn’t come. We really look forward to seeing what God is going to do with these children. We are also excited that some mothers are coming back to church that had not come for quite some time. So may God keep using it in both the children and adults!
A personal praise report: As one of the 4 teachers,I had been concerned about my Romanian language skills and had asked you to pray. But God has been merciful and teaching is going fairly well, although requiring a huge amount of preparation. The kids seem to understand me, although I don’t always understand everything they say! Thank God for good assistants! 🙂 Also, one of the things I like best about teaching, is that the lesson is always so relevant for me. This weeks’ lesson included the truth that we walk by faith and not by sight, and the scripture “Fear not, for I am with you!” Isaiah 43:5. Both were truths that greatly encouraged me throughout the week of preparation.
In other ministry news, we have not been permitted to visit the elderly homes for a whole month, since they are in quarantine for fear of swine flu. We have been told that until all the residents are vaccinated, we won’t be able to visit. Please pray that either the vaccines will come or the crisis will pass quickly so that we can again visit. Many of our elderly friends were already very discouraged about huge hikes in their room and board, and I’m sure their enforced isolation won’t help their state of mind. Also, I had been reading the Bible and praying with a couple of the residents and am anxious to be able to continue with that.
Please pray also for God to lead our planning and equip us for Christmas ministry to the church, the elderly homes and anything else He would want us to do in the community.
Pray for Tim as he concludes the book of Colossians, and begins Phillipians. Pray for God’s Word to go forth with power and clarity.
We appreciate continued prayer for our health, provision and protection that God might use us to the fullest extent possible. May we be fully equipped to do His will, but may we be content with what He determines is best.
