Hey, look what we got!!! Did you see the See’s candy? 😉 (I’m hoping they are low fat!) But seriously, where did all this booty come from? This morning I found a notice in our mailbox that we had received two packages from our “adoptive family” at PCC, one of the churches that stand with us here in our work to advance God’s kingdom in Valcea, Romania. Of course I wasted no time scurrying down to the post office to pick them up. Tim and I love packages! We always unpack them together, digging out each item one by one and giving each gift undivided attention. We’re like little kids, oohing and ahing, “Brownie mix!! A book! A new journal! Martinelli mulling spices!” But honestly, missionary life can be lonely and it’s such a nice feeling to know that someone is thinking of us so far away from home, friends and family, especially at Christmas time.
So, God bless you, Ambassador Sunday School class! Thank you for faithfully fulfilling your promise to adopt us as your own missionaries. We so appreciate the many tokens of your love and the evidences that we are not forgotten, but are being continually thought of and prayed for. It’s not that we are in need…or that we crave the luxuries you send. We really are content. But your generosity and love does encourage us and I am reminded of Paul’s description of the Philippians’ gifts: “a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God.” May our God in turn “supply your every need, according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus and to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen” We are praying for you regularly to be effective on your very own mission field there in So. California.
